How To Listen To Your Preschooler

So...Tell Me About Your Day

When you get home from work, your preschooler can't wait to tell you about their day. Although you're probably tired and just want to sit down and relax, it's more important for your to give your preschooler immediate attention from the moment you walk through the door.

Scoop up your preschooler in your arms and ask them what they did that day. Get face-to-face with them and give them your full attention. Show excitement about what they are telling you. Ask questions. But most importantly, listen.

If your preschooler created any crafts or has other things to show you, pick it up and look at it. Ask questions about how it was made, what colors they used and any shapes it has. If something has happened that day that upset your preschooler, be sure to talk about it. Ask them about their feelings.

Remember, even if your preschooler doesn't fully understand what you are asking, they will be happy just because you are interested in what they have to say.
