Sidewalk Water Painting
Who needs paint when you have water and a nice smooth driveway or sidewalk? sure paintin is a great preschool activity when you have paper or canvas, but when you want to take painting outdoors and avoid the mess, sidewalk painting is a great preschool activity. With a few supplies found around the house, you and your preschooler can enjoy doing this fun sidewalk water painting preschool activity.
What You Will Need
Different sized paint brushes (used for painting walls)
Bucket or other container
Water
How To Do It
Fill your bucket or container with water, dip your paint brush in and let your imagination fun wild! Paint letters, shapes, numbers, silly faces or just paint random strokes. Talk about the different sized brushes and how they make different sized water strokes on the sidewalk. Soak your brush and let the water drip as you twirl it around. Get really wild and fling the water from the brush with quick jerks of your hand.
How To Liven It Up
Write on the sidwalk with sidewalk chalk first, then paint it with water and watch the colors brighten.
Alternative Preschool Activity Version
If your preschooler has a play car or tricycle, get it out and let your preschooler paint it!
Other Preschool Activity Ideas
Another great activity uses leaves. Find a large green leaf. Lay it on the sidewalk, and with a semi-dry brush, make strokes from the center outward all the way around the leaf until the sidewalk is wet all around the leaf. Lift the leaf and you will see a dry leaf shape!
